Brian Chin's Weblog surveys the Web to spot what people are talking about ...
July 01, 2003Opposites don't attractIt's official: Opposites don't attract. That's the conclusion of Cornell researchers after studying 978 heterosexual men and women aged 18 to 24: "... our results suggest that individuals seeking stable, long-term relationships should not seek the highest-quality partner available, but should simply look for partners who are similar to themselves." But dating yourself?!? Horrors! At least that's the reaction of some dating specialists interviewed by the New York Daily News. In reality, they insist, single people seek out people who are quite different from them. (Of course, that may be why they're single.)
