May 30, 2003Clearcuts OK Down UnderIn New Zealand, environmental groups aren't protesting against Weyerhaeuser's tree farms and clearcuts. Instead, they're encouraging the timber giant, having made what the Wall Street Journal describes as "a pragmatic deal that lets loggers chop down vast swaths of these pines as long as they stay out of virgin forests."
