Economic depression breeds suicidal kind
The news about Washington state's economy is somber, if not depressing. But at least it doesn't seem to be driving people to kill themselves, as is the case in Japan.
Police in Kyoto found three people dead in an apartment this weekend, apparently the latest victims in a series of group suicide pacts involving strangers who met through the Internet.
Dozens of sites for people contemplating suicide have sprung up in Japan, interest reportedly fueled by the country's decade-long economic slump.
