February 16, 2003Words to live byThe worst movies always seem to bring out the best writing in movie critics. Certainly, the reviewers who loathed "Daredevil" have expressed their views more colorfully than those who praised it. Best scathing review I've seen comes from the Washington Post's Stephen Hunter: Between "Daredevil" and the deep blue sea, there's not much difference: Both are cold and wet and dark, difficult to navigate. The sea may kill you, while the movie probably won't, but the sea nourishes oysters, lobsters, crabs, Chilean sea bass and Mrs. Paul's fish sticks, while "Daredevil" only produces indigestion. Here's a close second, from Shawn Levy of The Oregonian: In its way, it's a perfect bit of movie kismet: Daredevil, the Man Without Fear, played by Ben Affleck, the Man Without Facial Expressions. ...
