« Griffey shows interest in coming to Seattle (some day) | Main | Hargrove to leave as Mariners' skipper »
The Red Sox sent their lineup to the Mariners about 40 minutes ago, and one name was significant by its absence -- that of Manny Ramirez.
The Boston left fielder, still one of the most dangerous hitters in the game (a .296 average, 11 homers and 42 RBIs), rarely gets a day off, having started 73 of 75 games for the Sox before Tuesday.
There aren't many kinds of pitchers that give Ramirez trouble, but Hernandez could develop into one of those, a hard-throwing right-hander who can bust the ball on the hands.
So Ramirez, 1-for-6 against Hernandez in his career and who didn't get the ball out of the infield (0-for-3 with a strikeout) back on April 11 in Boston, got Tuesday's start off. The Sox have to like the matchup better Wednesday, when lefty Ryan Feierabend is the competition.

I'll bet Manny's begging to get into the lineup tonight. Every Sox batter has a hit tonight.
