Portland's Dakota King rolls through her home town's galleries on a red carpet. "She has such a great eye," art dealer MaryAnn Deffenbaugh told the Wall Street Journal.
Dakota is 9. According to the Journal, the grade school student picked out a $5,5000 porcelain sculpture shaped like a basket and covered in tiny, platinum elephants.
That would be a basket by Jeffry Mitchell, whom the Journal declined to identify. He's showing at Pulliam Deffenbaugh through Sept. 29.

A photo of Dakota graces the front of the Journal's art page, but she is hardly alone in her youthful avidity to own art. Writer Kelly Crow found children all over the country who pick out and pay for their own Warhol, Jeff Koons, Jasper Johns and even Rembrandt. (Story here)
And the Republican Party tries to tell us that there is no ruling class.
