About 50 children from Bright Horizons daycare at North Creek in Bothell were being relocated because flooding cut off access to their building.
At about 1 p.m., teachers were marching the children, ages 2 months to 6 years old, across Northeast 195th Street under cover of umbrellas. The children who were not picked up by their parents were taken to Woodinville Montessori at 19102 North Creek Pkwy.
"They're expecting the electricity to go out. They think that would be pretty exciting," said teacher Sarah Albertson, of her students.
Meanwhile, Bothell Mayor Mark Lamb proclaimed a local emergency within his city's limits.
"The City of Bothell is taking all necessary measures to ensure life safety for our citizens," Lamb said. "The City is in full response to this emergency and is continuing to monitor the conditions as they are changing rapidly. Please secure yourself and your family, and ensure your emergency response plan is in place."
Mandatory evacuations were in effect for the North Creek Business Park, Quinton Industries and the Northshore School District admininstration building.
